At COZ, we believe that showcasing blockchain innovation means more than just deploying technology—it’s about creating immersive, hands-on experiences that connect with users. When the opportunity came to debut OneBand at one of the most influential Web3 gatherings in the world, we knew it had to be bold, interactive, and unforgettable. Consensus 2023 became the perfect launchpad to introduce how physical assets could be meaningfully integrated into the blockchain through Non-Fungible Item (NFI) technology.
Neo Blockchain sent us a simple, yet challenging brief: to communicate to the Web3 world how its ecosystem is reliable, flexible, and has the ideal infrastructure for building bold projects. The stage was one of the largest conferences on the global Web3 market calendar—Consensus, by Coindesk.
Our team set out to create an immersive and engaging experience that integrated physical cryptographic assets into an interactive booth activation at Consensus 2023. This approach also fostered engagement with nine ecosystem projects featured in mini booths within Neo’s space.
This activation was built around two main components, the OneBand Ring and a generative lizard NFT.
ITEM Systems provided the physical OneBand rings, embedded with Non-Fungible Item (NFI) technology. These rings were issued in five different colors, each representing a unique rarity level.
A generative NFT designed by a character designer from Ubisoft, with over 16,000 possible combinations and varying levels of rarity. This NFT, inspired by the Texas horned lizard, could interact with a user’s OneBand ring through a digital twin.
Visitors at the Neo booth could get a OneBand ring and complete a quick onboarding process at the "ITEM Shop." Once onboarded, attendees navigated to nine different microbooths, each staffed by project representatives. Scanning their OneBand ring at each station allowed visitors to enhance their generative NFT with different backgrounds, accessories and other items. The entire process was live on the N3 Mainnet and required no need for prior blockchain knowledge or application installations- one of the primary goals of NFI technology.
Web Application
A web-based application was developed by our tech team to host the gamified interaction. Users could track their progress through various waypoints, view updates to their generative NFT, explore information about the projects at each microbooth, and execute basic wallet operations. This web app was designed to optimize user experience by avoiding app downloads, which can be a barrier in environments with limited bandwidth and initial resistance to installs.
The application was WalletConnect 2.0-enabled, supporting a self-custodial experience. Users’ private keys were secured in their wallets, and the OneBand ring acted as the sole interface required for the activation. If a ring was lost, users’ private keys remained safe.
Immersion by Design
Designing an unforgettable booth experience requires more than just great tech—it demands a cohesive and engaging environment that brings the brand to life. That’s where our Product Experience team came in.
We led the entire design and production of the booth environment, curating every detail to optimize visitor flow, interaction, and visual storytelling. From the sleek architecture of the ITEM Shop to the individualized branding of each of the nine microbooths, every inch of the space was designed to encourage exploration and discovery.
Our team crafted the physical layout, developed all visual communication materials, and handled production of merchandise and branded signage. We coordinated directly with vendors and liaised with event organizers to ensure seamless execution, providing real-time on-site support throughout the three-day event with 5 staff members.
A total of 795 OneBand rings were successfully distributed over the course of the three-day event. The ITEM Shop experienced high traffic, with visitors waiting between 20 to 90 minutes, even requiring the use of cordons to manage crowds. Lines formed before the conference doors opened due to significant interest from attendees and exhibitors. Approximately 7% of conference participants received OneBand rings, leading to ongoing discussions throughout the event after the rings were fully distributed.
Data intelligence to build lasting relationships
User data was captured during onboarding, and a follow-up mailing list was created for further engagement.
A blockchain activation for a blockchain conference
The entire interactive experience was live on the N3 Mainnet, demonstrating the platform's capabilities without users realizing they were interacting with blockchain technology. The event highlighted COZ’s strength in delivering seamless, inclusive user experiences.

Bonus
To end the event on a high note and celebrate the new chapter that NFI technology has opened in the platform’s history, Neo Blockchain hosted an exclusive after-party for OneBand holders. The access to the party? By tap scanning their OneBand, of course.
